Since 2018, the organization has helped more than 20,000 dogs and cats find loving forever homes, proving that when a community comes together with a shared purpose, extraordinary change is possible.

Based in the Greater Houston area, Three Little Pitties Rescue is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to changing the lives of humans, dogs, and cats through adoption, transport, and community outreach. Their work extends far beyond rescuing animals from overcrowded shelters. It is about restoring hope, creating lasting connections, and ensuring every animal has the opportunity to experience the safety and love of a permanent home.

What began as the vision of three close friends has grown into one of Southeast Texas' most respected animal rescue organizations. In the early days, they relied on their own vehicles and a small group of committed volunteers to rescue stray animals from the streets. Today, Three Little Pitties has evolved into a thriving foster-based rescue supported by 55 full- and part-time employees, more than 1,000 volunteers, and a network of veterinary professionals, foster families, and community partners who share a common goal of giving vulnerable animals a second chance.

The organization now operates three dedicated properties that support every stage of the rescue journey. One serves as a landing space for new intakes and boarding, another houses a medical clinic where animals receive essential veterinary care, and a third donated property represents the next chapter of growth as fundraising efforts continue to develop the site into an expanded rescue facility. This steady growth reflects not only the increasing need for animal rescue but also the trust and support Three Little Pitties has earned from communities across the country.

One of the organization's most innovative programs is its lifesaving transport initiative. Recognizing that many regions have far greater demand for adoptable pets than others, Three Little Pitties bridges that gap by safely transporting rescued dogs and cats from Texas to families throughout the Pacific Northwest, the Northeastern United States, and the Midwest. Every two weeks, specially equipped USDA-certified buses and vans travel hundreds of miles carrying between 120 and 190 animals directly to the people who have been waiting to welcome them home. These carefully coordinated journeys have transformed thousands of lives by connecting deserving animals with families ready to provide lifelong love and care.

What truly distinguishes Three Little Pitties Rescue is its commitment to helping every animal, regardless of the challenges they face. The organization welcomes dogs and cats of every breed, size, age, and medical condition, including those who are heartworm positive, pregnant, or in need of extensive veterinary treatment. Rather than turning away animals with complex needs, the team invests in their recovery, recognizing that every life has value and every pet deserves the opportunity to thrive.

That philosophy extends beyond physical health. Three Little Pitties is the only rescue in its region to offer a comprehensive behavior program led by a full-time trainer and a dedicated team of K9 coaches. Through patient guidance and individualized care, dogs are given the tools they need to build confidence, overcome behavioral challenges, and transition successfully into family life. This commitment not only improves adoption outcomes but also helps create stronger, lasting relationships between pets and their new owners.

While adoption remains central to the organization's mission, Three Little Pitties understands that lasting change requires addressing the root causes of pet homelessness. In 2023, the rescue expanded its mission by establishing a Community Outreach department focused on supporting families before they are forced to surrender beloved pets. By providing free vaccinations, flea prevention, pet food, and basic veterinary care in underserved communities throughout the Greater Houston area, the organization helps remove barriers that often prevent families from accessing essential resources. These services keep pets healthy, strengthen the human-animal bond, and reduce the number of animals entering already overcrowded shelters.

The impact of these efforts continues to grow. During 2025 alone, Three Little Pitties provided more than 800 free spay and neuter surgeries while vaccinating over 1,800 pets for families needing assistance. These preventative programs not only improve the health of individual animals but also play a vital role in reducing pet overpopulation and creating healthier communities for generations to come.

Every dog stepping off a transport bus into the arms of a waiting family, every frightened kitten receiving lifesaving medical care, and every pet owner able to keep a cherished companion because of community support represents the true heart of Three Little Pitties Rescue.
